Sona institutions an icon of Salem, declares Periyar University Vice-Chancellor

Lauding the Sona group of Institutions for the high quality of education that they have been consistently providing to students, Periyar University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. P Kolandeivel on Wednesday called the educational institutions run by the group an icon of Salem.

Participating in the inaugural function of the Sona Medical College of Naturopathy and Yoga, the Vice-Chancellor said, “If there is an icon in Salem, it is the Sona group and the educational institutions run by them.”

Pointing out that the educational institutions run by the Sona Group constantly strive for quality, the Vice-Chancellor reassured the parents who had admitted their wards in the first batch of the BNYS course of the college that they had nothing to worry as the Sona group had high standards.

“They will run this college too in such a way that children studying here will one day proudly proclaim that ‘We studied in this college and are doing well in our careers’.”

The Vice-Chancellor, expressing his admiration for the Institutions run by the group, assured parents that they could safely trust the Sona Group.

Dr Kolandeivel also spoke about the significance of Naturopathy  and other branches of Indian Medicine on the occasion.

Stating that we haven’t taken  Ayush to the world, the Vice Chancellor, however,  said the world had realised that Allopathy had limitations. “There are side effects to Allopathic medicines and people all over the world now feel it will be better if they use Ayush.  Although, the Indian medicines are effective, we unfortunately have no scientific studies to validate our claims and therefore those in the west find it difficult to accept our findings. Now, the government itself, through a separate ministry called Ayush, is trying to take Ayush across to the world,” he said.

Showering praises on the Sona Group for their teaching methodologies and high standards, the Vice-chancellor told students of the first batch of the BNYS course that the Sona Medical college of Naturopathy and Yoga would take them places and all that they had to do was just offer their co-operation to the management.

“Just like how they have taken the students of their other colleges places, they will also take you places. All you need to do is just extend your co-operation. If you just extend your co-operation to the college, you will come out of this college as a fine doctor after five- and- a- half years. I guarantee you that. You must not be just doctors but also do research. If you do so, there are several opportunities awaiting you. The founders of this college are large-hearted and I pray that this institute grows as big as their hearts.”
