DESCRIPTION:6th Freshers’ Day Celebration – Sona Medical College of Naturopathy & Yoga \nVenue: SONA 500 HallDate: 31st October 2025Participants: 350 \nThe 6th Freshers’ Day of Sona Medical College of Naturopathy and Yoga was celebrated with great pride at the Sona 500 Hall. The event marked a meaningful beginning for the newly admitted batch of aspiring naturopathic physicians. \nThe ceremony began with the Lighting of Kuthuvilakku\, followed by Tamil Thai Vazhthu and a Pranayama session\, creating a spiritually vibrant atmosphere. \nDr. Ajitha\, Department of Emergency Medicine\, delivered the Welcome Address. This was followed by a presentation on SMCNY’s milestones by the Principal\, Dr. Dharmasamvardhini. An Introductory Note on Naturopathy was presented by Dr. Chunchu Sandeep\, CMO\, emphasizing the relevance of holistic healing in today’s healthcare system. \nMr. Thyagu Valliappa\, Vice-Chairman and Managing Trustee\, delivered the Inaugural Address and highlighted Sona’s mission to integrate technology with traditional wellness systems for a sustainable healthcare future. \nThe Chief Guest\, Dr. K. Narayanasamy\, Vice-Chancellor\, The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University\, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of preventive and integrative healthcare. The Guest of Honour\, Dr. Pugalenthi\, District Siddha Medical Officer\, motivated the students to uphold values of humanity\, discipline\, and dedication in their professional journey. \nThe prestigious White Coat Ceremony was conducted as a symbolic first step into the medical profession. This was followed by the 6th Batch Naming Ceremony\, where the new batch was officially named “Agastya”. \nSports achievers in Hockey\, Silambam\, and Gymnastics\, along with Academic Distinction holders\, were honoured with awards. \nThe Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Vasanthi Balamurugan\, Dean\, SMCNY. \nAs part of the celebrations\, a Tree Plantation Ceremony and the Inauguration of the Multispeciality Sports Ground were held\, reflecting Sona’s commitment to sustainability and physical wellness. \nThe cultural performances that followed showcased the creative talents of students in music\, dance\, and yoga formations. \nThe 6th Freshers’ Day Celebration stood as a perfect blend of tradition\, inspiration\, and festivity — a memorable beginning for our new naturopathic healers.

DESCRIPTION:Freshers day is a very special day where new faces start their new journey and raise a toast to themselves with their seniors. Sona Medical College of Naturopathy and Yoga celebrated the Freshers Day on March 8\, 2023. The day was filled with colourful emotions.  Our honourable Chief Guest\, Dr.Naveen Visweswaraih\, one of the best qualified naturopaths in India gave wonderful ideas to the students and shared his rich experience.Dr.Jaganadhan Msc.\, Agriculture\, Ph.D\, addressed the gathering with valuable information.  Mr.Johnhoffmire\,Oxford University\, UK\,  gave a very impressive speech to the gathering. The white coat ceremony is a rite of passage\, to welcome  the medical aspirants. Wishing luck and having merriment is incomplete without an enticing batch name. The Namakarna was the remarkable moment. Our freshers were named as VRINDA which means tulsi\, the most valuable shrub used during all auspicious occasions and used as a medicinal plant to cure as it is natural immune booster. The day ends with an amazing\, eye catching yoga dance performance which proved that our college students find joy in everything.
